An estimated 700 competitors, race officials, coaches and supporters visited the Island over the weekend for the Ryde Regatta and Shanklin Rowing Club's Regatta.
Junior rowers from Ryde were racing against some some of the top Junior crews in the country at the weekend, Well done to them for their great efforts.
Travelling to the idyllic riverside setting of Christchurch, Dorset for the annual Head of the Stour, Shanklin Sandown Rowing club were ably represented by five crews, over the two mile course.
It was a rather lack luster performance from Ryde’s Boys J16 Coxed Four of Dom Douglas, Ben Toms, Joel Smith, Jacob Redstone and Cox Austin Smith at the Itchen Eights & Fours Head of the River Race on Sunday (8th February) in their first race of 2015 season.
Sponsors, supporters and helpers of Ryde Rowing Club were entertained at an informal gathering at their Clubhouse on Friday evening (30th January) to thank them for their support during the last year.
With the 2014 competitive rowing season now over it was time for Ryde Rowing Club to celebrate another successful season at the club presentation dinner.
With a number of members unavailable it was a slightly depleted Ryde Rowing Club Boys Junior Squad that competed at the Itchen Junior Regatta on Saturday (11th October) – but they gave a good account of themselves with every squad member racing at least twice over the 600m sprint course on the River Itchen.
