Despite repeated requests, assurances, failure to fulfil those assurances and a public commitment by Chief Exec Steven Beynon, the Isle of Wight council still hasn’t released the data on how it’s spending tax-payer’s money.
Over two weeks ago, Isle of Wight Council Chief Executive, Steve Beynon, publicly committed on Vectis Radio, during an interview with Ian Mac and Kevin Barclay-Jay, that the council would release their spending data on 24th January.
The council Comms department also confirmed this release date to VB later.
Many dates given and passed
This caused VB a lot of excitement because for over six months VentnorBlog has been asking IWC when they will comply with the Government’s directive to open this data to the public to look at.
Back in July VB was told that it would be “by the end of September,” then they told an Island resident, under a Freedom of Information request, that it would be made available by “end of the October 2010.”
Today, 25th January, there’s has been no announcement from the council, nor has the data appeared on the Website that the IWC are going to release them to.
Why?
We’ve asked the council about this yesterday and as yet, we haven’t heard back.
Update 09:50: We’ve also just written to Steve Beynon directly to ask …
Steve, why hasn’t the IWC spending data been released despite your
commitment to 24.Jan on Vectis Radio on 11 Jan?When is it planned to be released now?
We’ll update this piece when we hear from him.
Update 11:30: Just heard back from Steve Beynon: “Good morning, we have had a small technical difficulty and we expect this data to be available in the next hour or so.”
