It’s not too late to take part in this fantastic charity cofee morning. Lots of events have been organised around the Island and there’s still time to arrange yours. Even if it’s just with a few friends. Rachel tells us more. Ed
Hundreds of people on the Isle of Wight to take part in World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday.
Over 300 people on the Isle of Wight are expected to take part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday.
Organisers Macmillan Cancer Support hope the 54 coffee mornings planned on the Isle of Wight will top last year’s fantastic fundraising total from the people on the Isle of Wight of £10,804.
Raising cash for cancer services
Around the UK over two million people are expected to take part, raising over £8.3 to fund Macmillan’s vital cancer services.
And the charity wants the Isle of Wight residents to know there is still time to register to hold their own event or to find one taking place in their area.
It’s not too late to take part
Macmillan’s fundraising manager for the Isle of Wight Lisa Murphy said: “We are delighted that so many people have signed up to take part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning – but it’s not too late to get involved.
“The fantastic thing about our event is that it’s so easy to organise, you don’t need a lot of time to prepare.
“Just invite a few friends round for coffee during the day, or serve up some lovely coffee cocktails at night. Or why not offer to make the coffee at work and charge your colleagues a pound?
“If you can’t get yourself organised today, you can hold an event over the next few months. We don’t mind when people hold their coffee events for Macmillan, just as long as you take part and help people affected by cancer.
“We also have a text to donate number for people who are too busy to take part just text ‘DRINK’ to 70123 and Macmillan will recieve £3.00 that will be charged to your mobile phone bill or taken from your credit, you will also be charged your standard text charge. So simple and it’s the cost of a coffee for one day so swap on the 24th
and make a difference!”
Join another coffee morning
Macmillan is also urging those who can’t hold their own event to log on to their website to find a coffee morning in their area.
Lisa Murphy added: “There are a lot of public coffee mornings taking place around the Isle of Wight so there’s certain to be one near. You can also call into the M&S cafe, Newport for a coffee on the 24th and they will donate 50p for each coffee sold to Macmillan.”
“So find why not find one on our website and drop in for some coffee and cake, and help Macmillan in the process?”
