Thanks to VB contributor, Becky Drake, for sharing news of her recently published novel. What a talented bunch of people we have living on the Isle of Wight! Ed
The Isle of Wight seems to be harbouring more and more talented writers than ever.
Hiding amongst the likes of Ann Rice, Stephanie Mayer and the thousands of other Vampire authors is me, Rebecca Drake.
I have just published my first novel, The Vampire Coven of London, on Amazon. Elaine Berry was the first Vampire author on the Isle of Wight to publish her novel, Wight Moon, last year. Now, a completely new book has risen from the shadows to join the ever growing writing circle on the Island.
A new author surrounded by the talented thousands.
An early starter
I started writing short stories at an early age, but it was only about six years ago when I had a dream about The Vampire Coven of London that I eventually put pen to paper (or hands to keyboard) and started to write my ideas down.
After weeks of tapping away I found my new found love for writing and realised that it was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. During this time I ventured in other areas of writing and wrote my first articles for VentnorBlog and produced my first press releases and blogs for my very first clients professionally.
Since then, I have gone on to start my own Freelance Writing and Copywriting Business and started my own blog, where I write about my projects, my favourite shops, products and TV shows and even a day in the life of my cat!
After years of editing and moulding the first novel in The Vampire Coven of London saga was finally published on Amazon on Monday 2nd July 2012.
What’s it about? The clue might be in the title, but the story follows 22 year old Madison Davies as she escapes a life of abuse and neglect to move to London to start a new life. Upon arrival to London she meets a dark and handsome gentleman, Brendan, who offers her ‘a hand’ when she needs it most.
Unknowingly, she begins to enter a world where things really do go bump in the night and she find herself mixing with Demons and accidentally getting involved with a jealous Vampire who would do anything to remove her from the picture.
Madison soon finds herself on the run and fighting for her life with the help of Brendan, but nothing is as it seems in a world where there are no boundarys and what Madison learns in her fight for survival is that sometimes in life there is only loss.
