Friends and neighbours from Thorley, Wellow and surrounding communities, came together in a laid-back Coronation Celebration Big Picnic on Wellow Millennium Green from 12.30 to 4.30, with music provided by local band, Unity Stompers.
Wellow Green Committee, Wellow Institute members and Thorley Church members worked together, and Institute members provided free teas and exquisitely decorated cakes.
Kite-flying, petanque and Trad Jazz
With kites flying, some gentle petanque games and some special vintage vehicles on display on the Green, the Traditional Jazz music kept more than 120 community members from six months to 93 years entertained and dancing throughout the afternoon in a perfect setting, relaxing in the sunshine.
Thanks to local businesses and friends who donated super raffle prizes and food, with proceeds being shared to help with upkeep of Green, Institute and St Swithins Church.
