Trial date set for Cowes teenager, now charged with further terrorism offences

Today (Friday) a 15-year-old boy from Cowes on the Isle of Wight was charged with further terrorism offences during a court appearance at Winchester Crown Court (pictured).

The boy was charged initially with preparation of terrorist acts under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006 on Sunday 17th July.  

The charges
Today (4th Nov) he was further charged with three counts of dissemination of terrorist publications under Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006 and having an article with a blade or point in a public place, contrary to Section 139 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988. 

The boy, who cannot be named or identified for legal reasons, was arrested on Monday 11th July by officers from Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) with assistance from Hampshire Constabulary. 

Pleaded not guilty
The boy pleaded not guilty via video link to all counts and has been remanded in custody until the next hearing, which is due to take place on 7th March with trial listed for 18th April.
