Further to our brief warning earlier today about the forecast of very wet and windy weather, we now have another update from the Met Office.
They say that this evening and overnight can expect a band of very wet and windy weather will move in from the West with 20-25mm of rain fall in places, and up to 30mm is possible in some places.
Up to 70mph winds overnight
This will be accompanied by very windy weather, with south to south-westerly gusts of wind inland up to 50 or 60mph and 70mph along the South Coast.
We’re told that, “the rain is likely to have a sting in its tail as it goes through in tomorrow morning’s rush hour as there is likely to be a short spell of very heavy rain then.”
Tuesday will be blustery with wintry showers and we might even see a bit of sleet, snow or hail mixed into the showers. They say that it probably won’t settle and the worst of the snow problems will be further North.
Wednesday will be a day of sunny spells and showers and the winds will ease into Wednesday afternoon and night.
Very strong winds on Thursday night
Thursday evening, night and into Friday looks to have some very windy and wet weather moving through the region.
It apparently has the potential to be a damaging spell of weather, so keep an eye on the updates.
