Vectis Isle Pioneers take on the Chale Farm circuit

Thanks to Wayne for this latest report from the Vectis Isle Pioneers (VIP) Motorcycle Club. Ed

The brilliant weather this weekend disguised the rather slippery and muddy sections at Chale Farm – which most of us realised after section two!

The youngest riders in the Club, Harrison Crickmore and Alfie Haydon, competed against each other in the E class.

It was Harrison who proved to be the clear winner here, finishing with the lowest total of the day, a loss of just seven marks! Alfie was undoubtedly hampered on his smaller wheeled bike – good effort though by both riders.

It was good to see Mathew Power back riding in the Youth over 80 class. However it was ‘match fit’ Kerry Jacobs who cruised into top spot. Jos Wright chose to ride in the Youth Twinshock class – Jos rode well to post a great score, better than most of the adults riding the C route!

John Death was the sole rider in the Intermediate class dropping just fifty seven marks – this may sound a lot but on the greasy course proved to be a very competitive score.

The Novice class attracted an amazing nine riders! It was John Croft who took the win ahead of the ever improving Brian Brockwell with Wayne Brodie lagging behind in third place. Just six marks separated the first four places.

Paul Kent was tied with Wayne, both dropping forty one marks – but the count back system meant that Wayne finished ahead of Paul who had to settle for fourth place.

Nobody will be more surprised than Wayne Brodie with this result – Wayne was so disillusioned he more or less gave up after the first lap! Chairman’s tip to all: Don’t give up – keep on going, you never know!!

Nick Symes won the Twinshock class convincingly from Adam Brodie. Adam’s ‘project bike’ let him down this afternoon, although nothing fell off this time – that’s progress!

Phil Silvester gained his first win in the Adult Beginner class, despite finding himself dumped in the mud on section five, he picked himself up and carried on regardless, to earn himself ten Championship points – Good effort Phil!
