Further to our report last week that two bids had been received to take over the Ventnor Botanic Garden, the Isle of Wight council have this morning provided further info.
First asked on 13th October, but as readers will remember, bumped back to us with the council saying they were unable to reveal the exact number of those expressing an interest, we resubmitted the question again on Friday last week and rather surprisingly received an answer this morning.
18 showed an interest
Although eighteen people requested information packs, only two bids were submitted. The press office were able to confirm that no bids were submitted and then withdrawn.
They went on to tell us that “four expressions of interest came from the Island, three were via email with no forwarding address and 11 were from off-Island, of which one originated from the USA.”
The two bids are now being scrutinised by the council and a decision is expected to be made by the Cabinet member responsible by next Spring.
