Ventnor Winter Gardens: Plans Lodged With Council

Plans to develop the Ventnor Winter Gardens have been lodged with the council and will available to view online on Friday 20th January.

As readers will remember, back in September the Hambrough Group were awarded the option to buy the Ventnor Winter Gardens for £1.

Manser architect's view of Robert Thompson announced at the time that substantial investment would be used to develop the iconic Ventnor building to include two high-quality dining outlets, a refurbished and upgraded auditorium as well as hotel accommodation in two new wings at the side of the building.

Significant structural repairs and maintenance
The application states specifically, “Alterations including significant structural repairs and maintenance to upgrade and improve existing building facilities, two and three storey side extensions to form 37 bedrooms and associated facilities; hard and soft landscaping.”

The plans will available to view online from next Friday (20th January – ref P/01802/11 – TCP/14651/C) with comments from the public due by 10th February.

We’re looking forward to seeing the plans, so will remind you next week when they go live on the planning website.

What about the botanical gardens, when are they being sold?

Judging from the picture, it looks like a Barratt copy of the real thing…
