Calling all fans of vintage video games and computers!
Tonight (Monday 17th August 2026) is your lucky night as it sees the Isle of Wight Vintage Computer Club meeting at Quay Arts in Newport from 6pm.
It’s all about celebrating classic computer hardware and retro gaming.
What to expect
If words like Amiga; NES; Amstrad; BBC Micros; Archimedes; Spectrum; or Mega Drive mean anything to you, you’ll be in the right place.
Whether you were there at the time it was all new, or are a fan of looking at what it used to be like, you’re encouraged to come along, get some hands‑on time playing with the kit, or chatting to others about it.
The organisers describe it as,
“A small‑scale, friendly event that we hope to grow into a regular fixture for the Island’s retro and vintage computing community.”
They say they’re “enthusiastic and hugely nerdy, but there is absolutely zero gatekeeping. Everyone is welcome, regardless of experience level.”
Use what’s there or BYO
The organisers will have a number of vintage computers and classic consoles set up and ready to go.
If you’re lucky enough to have your own retro hardware, you’re welcome to bring it along – they have old style TVs and monitors available for plugging your kit into.
There’s no entrance charge for the event, you are encouraged to buy something from the Quay Arts’ bar, as they’ve supporting the event by giving the space, it’s only right to support the Quay in the process.
