There were spectacular scenes across the Island throughout the day, as walkers made their way across several routes, the longest being 26.5 miles from Bembridge to the Needles Landmark Attraction.
A multitude of walkers in fancy dress brightened up what started out to be a bit of a chilly start in Bembridge, but everyone was basking in glorious sunshine as the hours passed. Young children; hundreds of dogs; Walk the Wight veterans and many people with disabilities, all took up the challenge to support the Hospice.
Nigel Hartley, Chief Executive, said it was an “inspiring and humbling occasion”.
He said,
“This was my first Walk the Wight and I was absolutely delighted to see so many people taking part and supporting our Hospice.
“I’d like to say a personal thank you to every single person who walked, and everyone who helped to make the event possible. It was a fantastic day.”
Money raised from this year’s event will go towards the Hospice community nursing team, who care for up to 200 patients in their own homes.
