A week doesn’t seem to go by without more exciting news about Isle of Wight band, Wet Leg.
No sooner had the band been named as one of Vevo’s DSCVR 2022 Artists To Watch, received incredible praise from the likes of Iggy Pop, appeared on the front cover of Dork magazine and on Later with Jools Holland, took the No. 2 spot in NPR’s 100 top tracks of the year 2021, received Video of the Year Awards from AAA Records, the band have now also been placed in the number two spot for the BBC’s Sound of 2022.
Spotify’s EQUAL artist of the month
Not only that, they are Spotify’s EQUAL artist of the month, as band member, Rhian Teasdale, explains,
“It’s part of their commitment to encourage greater equality for women in music globally. The more representation women have in the music industry the more we can fuel aspiration, and work on improving the equity women have in music, which historically, has been hugely unbalanced.”
Phenomenal rise to fame
The band’s rise to fame has been extraordinary to watch and is truly well-deserved.
Having seen them play live many times before they signed with Domino Records last year, we always knew the band was bursting with talent and would go a long way. Bravo to the team at Domino Records for their confidence in the band and for their support.
The band have received millions of streams on their first three singles, Chaise Longue, Wet Dream and Too Late Now and with an album due out in April 2022.
Who is in the band?
Founded by Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers, when Wet Leg are on the road the band also includes the likes of Ellis Durand on bass, Henry Holmes on drums and Josh Mobaraki on guitar and synth.
