Well, all of the build-up that we’ve been bombarded with awaiting the arrival of the London Olympics Opening Ceremony reached their pinnacle at 9pm last night, when the event actually started.
Amazingly, in this time of cameraphones and social media, the details had remained secret so what we saw, beyond knowing there was going to be a rural start to it, was news to us.

Search for olympic opening review on Google News and you’ll find an amazing 17,992 news articles from around the world telling what they thought of it. Unusually – and obviously we haven’t read them all – they seem to be in praise of the event.
What were your favourite bits?
OK – let’s put aside the amount of money that was spent on it, as it’s been debated a lot already. Many feel that far too much has been spent, we can’t change that, so let’s just accept that it’s been spent. What about the actual opening?

Who didn’t sit there opened-mouthed when the camera revealed that it actually was The Queen taking part in the James Bond sketch?
