isle of wight day

What will you be doing for the very first Isle of Wight Day?

Robin Courage, the latest High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight, last week launched plans for a new annual event celebrating all that is great about the Isle of Wight.

The very first Isle of Wight Day will take place on 24th September 2016 and organisers are hoping Islanders will get involved to help make the day as special as it can be.

Robin said,

“I am passionate about this Island and am very aware of its wonderful community of talented and disparate souls.

“Like Red Nose Day, or Children in Need, Isle of Wight Day provides us all with an opportunity to come together on one day to celebrate all that is great about this special place and to support local causes.”

Cllr Bacon, the Leader of the Isle of Wight Council, said,

“Isle of Wight Day gives an opportunity for all that is great about this Island to be cherished and celebrated. It will be in the calendar for many years to come. I hope that it will really instill itself in the culture of the place.”

A bunting theme has been created for the day and it is hoped that every town, village, place of work and home will be decked out with bunting on 24th September, the first of an annual day of celebration for the Island.

Find out more about the Day by visiting the official Website (beware of the auto-play video if viewing at work).
