Since the autumn Covid booster programme launched last week, over 27,000 people, many of which are considered more at risk from the virus, have come forward in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to get vaccinated ahead of the winter. This includes people aged 75 and over, the severely immunosuppressed and frontline health and care workers.
Appointments opened last week through the national booking system and now people aged 65 and over, as well as carers and pregnant women, can also book to get vaccinated.
Book your slot
Currently bookings for the autumn booster are only open for people who are:
- aged 65 plus
- carers
- frontline health and social care workers
- pregnant women
- people who are severely immunosuppressed
See below for details of vaccination locations on the Isle of Wight. If you can’t get a slot on the Island, try again in a few day’s time as more appointments become available.
Appointments booked
So far, over 50,000 appointments have been booked for people to get vaccinated across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight in the next two weeks.
Many have been contacted by their GP or place of work such as a hospital hub or care home to get vaccinated, while others have booked in with their local community pharmacy or can attend one of the roving clinics ran by Solent NHS Trust.
Reduce your risk of getting seriously ill from Covid
Getting your Covid vaccine is the best way to reduce your risk of getting seriously ill from Covid, reduce your risk of spreading or catching the virus, and protect against the different variants.
Many eligible people will have started receiving text messages and letters inviting them to book, while visits to vaccinate care home residents and staff has already begun.
If you are eligible and had your last jab at least three months ago, you can find your nearest bookable appointment through the national booking system.
Who is eligible for a booster?
Currently bookings for the autumn booster are only open for people who are aged 65 plus, carers, frontline health and social care workers, pregnant women and people who are severely immunosuppressed. More appointments are being made available regularly.
If you do not fall into one of these groups, but will be eligible later in the programme, please wait to be contacted by the NHS.
Flu vaccine
We have also been rolling out the flu vaccine and encouraging eligible people to take up the offer where possible.
Some locations may offer flu and Covid jabs at the same time for eligible people.
