This in from the Gavin Chadwick from the Wight Balance Photography Group. Well done to all members. Ed
This years club photography season started with an invigorated attitude and six new members for Wight-Balance but nothing had prepared us for what we were about to receive.
Through members hard work, dedication and willingness to submit images for competition use the club has taken home four of the five trophies available this year.
All Island Print of the Year
First was last November’s ‘All island print of the year’ which was won by a founder group member William Phillips (held the previous season by another Wight-Balance member!).
Jessops Cup and Inter-club Trophies 2011
Then came the ‘Jessops Cup’ in January which was hosted and won by Wight-Balance Photography members, and then the final competition being last week where two trophies were up for grabs at the Sandown and Shanklin District Camera clubs ‘Inter-club trophies 2011’ event.
The inter-club competition consisted of two panels of five images, five projected and five in print, with Wight-Balance winning both categories and taking home the two trophies up for grabs.
In total there were 55 images to be judged at the inter-club event of which six received a perfect score of 10 with Wight-Balance receiving four of them!
New members receive high marks
New members Brian Hamilton and Chris Eade should be especially proud at having received such high competition marks in their first season of club photography.
Wight-Balance meet at Newport’s Riverside centre between 7.30pm and 9.30pm most Wednesday nights where newcomers of all levels are welcome, but please do check the club website diary before leaving home to attend a meeting.
