The Dash and Splash charity event will be returning to Shanklin and Sandown this year on 30th July.
Organised by Shanklin and Sandown Rotary Club. this will be the second five kilometre dash along the beach of beautiful Sandown Bay on the Isle of Wight.
This beautiful area has the largest bay on the Isle of Wight which, at low tide, offers a unique run along the hard sand.
What’s the route?
The run starts at the old Shanklin pier head, and dashes along the beach, under Sandown pier, to finish at Yaverland opposite the Yacht Club.
There are 43 groynes in total to negotiate along the five kilometre run, most of which are a straight run through large gaps in the structures.
The remainder 14 will be splashed around which at low tide will be mostly ankle deep water. Two groynes will be knee deep for a short distance which should cool you off!
All for a good cause
All entrant fees and money raised by Shanklin and Sandown Rotary Club will be donated to the Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat which you will be running past.
Registrations don’t open until 1st May, so put that date in your diary and make sure you head over to the official Dash and Splash Website to sign up.
