An 18 piece band are set to invade the Isle of Wight later today and will be performing three, free gigs over the course of the weekend.
The name of the group is XCDarwin and is made up of 12 ex students of the Charles Darwin School in Biggin Hill, Kent (close to Downe House where Charles Darwin lived) and six staff members from the Music Department there.
Most of the students have gone onto studying Music or Music Technology at university or other degree subjects since leaving the school and we understand that music tours were always a regular feature when at the school.
They have travelled around Europe as a group and will now be crossing the Solent to perform here on the Island.
They’ll be playing a varied programme of music ranging from songs by the Beatles, Johnny Cash, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Blur and many more, including original compositions by members of the group.
The performance starts and finishes like the Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ album and has other Beatles songs featured throughout, in addition to the songs by other artists.
