Your jolly news: An antidote to bad news

Here’s a bundle of your personal-updates that let us know that there are loads of good things happening on the Island (70 and counting!), even if most of the news is telling us otherwise.

smilie-face-lawprier

It’s been a pretty heavy week on the news front on the Isle of Wight, so we were searching around for a good news story this afternoon – to try and lift people’s spirits for the weekend.

We drew a blank, so we flung a plea out to the Isle of Wight and, true to form, they didn’t let us down. We got loads of updates on Facebook and Twitter telling us little good things that were happening in their lives.

Have a read through. It’ll lift your day.

Perhaps we should do this as a regular thing, as Stephen Smith suggested.

Jolly News: Friday 11.Jan.13

Funny & touching, & good to have regularly as long as the adverts can be sifted out.

Informative too – I learnt from one of the responses, 5 mins before Ray Mears was due on TV showing ancient Island woods, that the programme was about to go out!

Brilliant advert for the IOW, Ray says that seeing red squirrels in native deciduous woodland here was a good enough reason to visit the Island on it’s own.

Yes, it was good to have his outsider’s reminder that we have 50% ancient woodland here, (I think he said), compared with an average 2% elsewhere in the UK. And seeing badgers in daylight like that! The smile on his face at the end said it all!….

Please do this every week. It’s wonderful to see the everyday things that are good news to people. It is so much better that all the usual bad news, moans & groans.

Thank you for any other informative website. Where else may just I get that kind of info written in such a perfect manner? I have a project that I am simply now operating on, and I have been at the look out for such info.
