Newport Football Club sign Scott Sampson

The former Blackfield & Langley favourite, who won the Wessex Premier League medal playing for the Champions in 2012/13, has agreed to sign on after playing a handful of games for Newport towards the end of last season.

Manager Steve Brougham was delighted with the new signing,

“I think Scott is a great signing for us. Obviously he couldn’t commit to playing for us last season, but with him playing hopefully every week for us this year and with his winning mentality we’ll be a better team for it.

“Other clubs have been interested in him, but I’m just really happy that he’s agreed to sign for Newport. I think if we’re going to do well in the Wessex Premier League we’re going to need players like Scott playing for us.

“Also, Scott’s won the Wessex League, so he knows what to do to win the league which will no doubt rub off on the other players.”

Training hard
Sampson is already working hard on his preparation and training and confirmed the importance of getting ready for the new season nice and early.

“You cannot beat having a good pre-season, something which I struggled with last year for different reasons. It really sets you up and pre-season fitness levels are so important.”
