Wearing eye catching pink and orange running vests promoting the fostering service, the team of seven joined over 25,000 other athletes in Portsmouth.

Social worker Alex Day put in an incredible performance, finishing 65th overall, just 12 minutes behind the overall men’s winner.

Husband and wife team John and Valerie Marsek both completed the run in around two hours, with John just edging home ahead.

Other team members
The other team members of Mat Penney, Jamie Brenchley, Janet Paine and Gemma Elford also performed well, each completing the course in good times.

The team were also joined by John Coughlan, director of children’s services, and Steve Crocker, deputy director of children’s services, as well as members of Hampshire County Council’s fostering service who wore the same vests to promote fostering.
