Rock the Cowes bars event returns this week

This in from the Hospice, in their own words. Ed

The popular free event kicks off at 8pm when an array of local talent covering a range of musical styles will perform in seven venues throughout the town; The Anchor, Pier View, Vectis Tavern, Cowes Ale House, Berties, The Mess and The Union Inn.

The live music events, which first started in February this year, now run every two months as well as during a special weekend event during the August bank holiday, and are generously supported by local broadband supplier Wightfibre.

Raising awareness and funds for the Hospice
With the popular Hospice sunflowers on sale; collecting buckets at the ready, and support from volunteers, everyone involved is all set to raise funds for vital support services.

Speaking about their choice of charity, local musician and event organiser Chris Quinton said:

“We decided to support Earl Mountbatten Hospice after a couple of well known faces in the Cowes community were sadly taken by cancer. Sadly everybody has been, or is likely to be, affected by the disease at some point.

“The Hospice is well known for providing excellent care for those in need and the fact that the centre is run heavily on charitable donations means they need all the help they can get. We’re very proud to be doing our bit.”

Extremely grateful for the support
Alba Lewis, Director of Income Generation at the Hospice said,

“We are extremely grateful for the support being given by all of those taking part and attending these popular events. The funds we receive help us to give much needed help and support to people both at the hospice and out in the community and help us make a real difference to their lives.”
