Appley Women’s Institute celebrate WI centenary

WI centenary baton

Thanks to Judith for this latest update from the Appley WI. Ed

Twelve selected photographs have been uploaded onto a memory stick within the baton to represent members of the Isle of Wight Federation.

Ladies lunch
On Friday 23rd January, Anne Longford, Federation President, together with the Board of Trustees, attended a lunch at St. John’s Church Hall, Ryde, with members of Appley WI, joined for the occasion by St. John’s WI.

The ladies enjoyed a delicious soup provided by Appley Beach Cafe followed by home made slices of cake.

To visit all IW WIs
The baton traveled from hand to hand around a circle of friendship and the ladies found it inspiring to be a part of a nationwide celebration. Once the baton has confirmed goodwill and fellowship by visiting all the Isle of Wight WIs it will be taken to Dorset, eventually finishing its trip at the NFWI Annual Meeting in June 2015 at the Royal Albert Hall.

New members welcome
New members are always welcome at Appley WI. Meetings are on the second Thursday of each month, at 7.30pm, in St. John’s Church Hall, High Park Road, Elmfield.
