Crime series by Island authors to be developed as TV series

Isle of Wight authors, Carol and Bob Bridgestock (aka R C Bridgestock) were able to share some very exciting news with fans of their work today (Tuesday).

The Gate Films have optioned their DI Jack Dylan crime series (which begins with Deadly Focus) to develop as a television series

Bob and Carol are excited to have BAFTA winning producer Claire Lewis (second from left below) and former ITV and BBC exec producer, Mervyn Watson (pictured right below), also involved in the project.

“Chomping at the bit”
Sarah Jarvis (pictured centre above), co-founder and senior producer at The Gate, said,

“We feel privileged to be associated with Bob & Carol and now the option is signed are keen to get underway. We have a brilliant team at the Gate who are all chomping at the bit to be involved in the Dylan project.”

Carol and Bob have seen considerable success since first enrolling on a course to ‘Write Your First Novel’ at the Isle of Wight College back in 2008.

With their sixth novel in the series about to be published, writers were recently voted eighth “Best Crime & Thriller Authors of All Time” in a WHSmith poll.

Bob and Carol Bridgestock said,

“The opportunity to work with Sarah, and TV Producers Mervyn Watson and Claire Lewis and the team at Gate Films is a giant step on Jack Dylan’s journey and opens up what will be a wonderful series to a larger audience.”

The couple have also worked as storyline consultants to Sally Wainwright on the first and second series of the BBC1 award-winning police drama ‘Happy Valley’ and are also working with RED Productions on the fourth popular crime series Scott & Bailey.
