It’s been a hectic three days for the club for following on the announcements that Matt Saul and Tyler Govier had agreed to join the Wightlink Warriors, comes the news that the No.8 race jacket has been handed to 24 year old George Piper.

George, who previously rode speedway from an early age before switching to motocross, has decided to revert to shale racing and will now enjoy plenty of track time with the Warriors and the opportunity to be part of the team.

Looking forward to the challenge he said,

“I’m really pumped to be part of the Warriors next year, it’s topped off a lot of hard work getting my new set up for this season. I’ve got some decent kit sorted and am really looking forward to being back on a speedway bike and doing what I love to do the most!

“Gareth at G.Fonteneau contracts, the guys at speedway portal, my dad and my partner Charlotte have been absolutely fantastic help putting everything together, so being surrounded by such a great team of people has really been a driving force in what is shaping up to a successful comeback.

“I will be looking to carry this momentum into the 2016 season, the Wightlink Warriors team is already looking awesome so I’ll be giving 110% to keep up with some of the talent coming to the island in the coming season.”

Commercial Director Barry Bishop said,

“Martin and I are delighted to have George in the team. The number 8 jacket is an important position at the Warriors as we look to develop our riders from No.1 to No.8, to reach their potential.

“George has a great support network around him and he is very keen to make an impression. I am sure we will see George making swift progress around Smallbrook and he is a great addition to the squad.”
