Red Funnel have just updated VB that the woman who was thought to be missing from one of their ferries on Friday night has been found by Police safe and well at her home on the Island.
A huge search was mounted after the woman, who had got on the ferry as a foot passenger, wasn’t accounted for when it arrived in East Cowes.
UPDATE 13:53: It’s now understood that the police believe she left the ship in a coach.
Emergency services searched for over three hours, including seven boats and the Coastguard rescue helicopter.
Simon Hawkins, helm of Cowes RNLI lifeboat, described it as the longest time the lifeboat had spent on a ‘shout’ this year.
Please tell those on-board
Guess all of this points to – if you get on as a foot passenger on a ferry – please make sure that you tell those on-board if you decide to leave in a vehicle.
