It’s amazing to think that it’s been 25 years since the tragedy of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster took place.
The impact on the lives of many since the explosion of the nuclear power station, which released large quantities of radioactive contamination into the atmosphere on 26 April 1986 continue still today.
As many of you will already be aware, the Isle of Wight has been fortunate enough to host much-needed breaks for young people from Belarus, providing weeks of respite from the radioactive zone.
Next Wednesday (27th April) a Vigil is being held in St James’ Square in Newport from 7pm to remember all those affected by the disaster.
Why not come along to the vigil and spare a thought for those and all the others affected by the disaster.
Some will be asking, “Fukushima, Three Mile Island, Windscale ….. how many more does it take?”
