RNID Action on Hearing Loss are holding a sponsored walk at the end of the month to raise funds for their much-needed befriending service.
The Hear to Meet Walk is a three-mile walk along The Old Railway Line, Western Yar Estuary and takes place from 2pm on Sunday 26th June.
It’s suitable for walkers of all abilities and promises to be a great day out for all the family.
What is the befriending service?
RNID Isle of Wight, is a registered local charity that supports the 3,000 people on the Island who are deaf or hard of hearing.
The befriending service, new this year, is offered to Island residents who are deaf or hard of hearing. Activities include:
- visiting people who are feeling lonely and isolated, and offering them support
- lending people equipment that allows them to live independently and safely in their own homes
- running drop-in centres across the Island where we help hearing aid wearers maintain their aids.
If you’d like to take part in the sponsored walk get in touch with the team by calling 01983 529533 (tel/textphone / local rate) or email [email protected]
