Festival-goers will remember Ian Brown performing at the 2007 Isle of Wight Festival.
The Stone Roses frontman will return to the Island in 2013, this time bringing his band with him.
Those of certain age will remember the Stone Roses rising in the late 1980s and early 1990s from the Manchester scene, knocking out classics such as Fools Gold, I Wanna Be Adored, Waterfall and Ten Storey Love Song.
Fresh from world tour
The band, which reformed at the end of 2011, have been busy touring the world since and their visit to the Isle of Wight in 2013, sees them headlining the main stage on the Friday night.
John Giddings, the Festival’s promoter, says: “When you talk about the soundtrack of our lives, The Stone Roses are embedded in it. I am so proud to get them to our island- they will kick the weekend off with a bang.”
