Below is a ‘Photosphere’ of the landslip on Undercliff Road.
A Photosphere is like a very elaborate photograph, but giving you much more information than a standard photo, or even a 360° photo ever could.
It allows you to move not only up or down within it – as if you are sitting inside a ball – but also to move around it.
It gives you the opportunity to look around the whole of the section of Undercliff Drive that slipped just over a week ago.
The photosphere is away from the houses that were evacuated today and taken last Sunday (it take a week for the Google to approve the images to be made public).
How do I use a Photosphere?
Initially it can be quite hard to understand the concept – it is after all a new one to most people – but you might find it easier to use.
To move your position around within the photo, simply click on the mouse button and drag the mouse in any direction left/right, or up/down.
It takes a little getting used to, but we’re sure that you’ll learn quickly.

Clicking on the top right of the image will make it display full screen, enhancing the illusion of being there.
Once you become more settled with it, you might want to have a go of zooming in and out, which on a PC is done using the scroll wheel, and on a tablet is achieved by double clicking.
