Be patient and considerate on the roads during harvest, ask NFU

The NFU is urging all road users to be careful and considerate to one another, now that harvest is underway.

NFU South East Crops Board chairman Matt Culley says:

“This year rural roads seem to be busier than ever because hay making is late and now harvest is underway as well. It’s a case of give and take – everyone has a right to be on the roads so it’s important to be considerate and courteous to one another.

“Please be patient if you find yourself driving behind a slow moving tractor, a combine harvester or a cultivator.

“Remember farmers are working around the clock to deliver your daily bread and to produce food for livestock.”

Mr Culley added:

“The NFU is also reminding its farmer members to check their mirrors frequently and to pull over if they see a queue building up behind them.”

The NFU produces a business guide for its members on harvest machinery movements.
