AAA Records Awards showcases the best of Isle of Wight’s music scene #6

It’s day six of the AAA Records annual Awards.

So far we have seen Jayden Hitchcock from EarsPeeled pick up the Award for Best live Event, Plastic Mermaids take the prize for Album of the Year, Dick Taylor was crowned Isle of Wight Music Legend, Silas Gregory picked up Innovator of the Year and The Chesterfields were awarded Single of the Year for ‘Mr Wilson Goes To Norway’.

Live Act of the Year
Today it’s the turn of Live Act of the Year, as Andy Barding from AAA Records explains,

“We’re over halfway! Our sixth award of the season is for the Live Act of the Year – and it goes to the whirlwind that is Froglands PK!

“It’s been a cracking year for this lot, fronted by the enigmatic Fox Rawding, despite the band not releasing one single note of recorded music. Guess they have the Lazy Boy Blues…

“What they have done, though, is tugged at our heart-strings with a succession of quality live performances that really do exceed the national average.

“Part Bob Dylan, part Big Star, part Jonathan Richman, part John Prine, Fox’s stellar troubadour songwriting and performance skills have lit up places like Strings and The Kashmir Cafe, and events like the Plastic Mermaids‘ Field Party and Jayden Hitchcock’s AAA award-winning EarsPeeled at the Ventnor Fringe.

“We’ve all got to know and love songs like That’s My Boy, Life’s Good and the weird, harmonica-heavy, Rolling Thunder-esque one that seems to be about the pigeons, frogs and great danes of East Cowes.”
