17% of exams were awarded the very top grade of a 9 and over a quarter of all results were either A* or the equivalent (9 and 8) – the best figures ever for the very top grade.
Year 11 students at Sandown Bay Academy have seen the rewards of their hard work with an improvement on the measure of 5 A*-C including English and Maths.
The secondary school in Sandown says many of the targets set for Year 11 students have been met this year, with improvements on last year for 18 of the 24 subjects studied.
The early indications are that the proportion of students attaining a grade 4 or above in English and maths this year has improved from 55 per cent in 2018, to 60 per cent.
There's been a massive GCSE improvement at Carisbrooke College with the number of pupils obtaining 5 GCSEs at A*-C including English and Maths, surging from below 30% to 54%. Well done to all!
