The first area on the Island to be upgraded to the new full-fibre broadband has been announced as well as the first new WightFibre area as part of the multi-million pound Gigabit Island project.
The plans for Gigabit Island were announced at the first Digital Solent on 8th November 2017.
An investment of £35m from Infracapital will result in 50,000 properties on the Isle of Wight securing a 1Gb Internet connection by 2021.
The rollout is being managed by WightFibre Ltd.

At today's (Wednesday) Solent Digital Conference in Cowes, WightFibre announces that it has secured a £35m investment to build a full-fibre, future proof, ultrafast (Gigabit) broadband network across the Isle of Wight.
