The Annual Report for 2012-13 reveals a drop in the parking income at the Isle of Wight council. Scrutiny panel members will consider progress of the parking review at tonight's meeting.
The range of proposals are wide-ranging, which include increasing parking charges, removing currently-free parking and stopping Blue Badge concessions, alongside others.
Conservatives say “Instead of hiking parking charges to such an extent that they will damage small local businesses and town centres, we should be looking at putting our leisure centres on a stable and sustainable long term footing."
After the debate of which parking changes will change on the Island, the council has now come to a decision. Detail include increases in Short-stay and On-street charges and new Resident permit.
Before the election Richard Priest promised to "Promote high streets not penalise motorists". Now, a year on, he and Jon Gibley are overseeing the opposite.
