Absence of voting members meant adjournment for Schools Forum meeting

The Schools Forum, a committee of representatives from various schools and other education stakeholders on the Isle of Wight, were due to meet at County Hall earlier this week to discuss a busy agenda of items.

Five members of the Forum were in attendance, as well as officers from Hampshire County Council – who currently run Children’s Services on the Isle of Wight – and Cllr Priest, the Executive member for Children’s Services.

Unfortunately, the meeting had to be adjourned as there weren’t enough voting members present. The start of the meeting was initially delayed by 15 minutes to allow for any late-comers, but eventually had to be postponed until after the half term holidays due to the lack of quorum.

Absent from the meeting
Apologies had already been received in advance from four members of the Forum, however, the following members did not attend the meeting, nor gave any apologies in advance:

Matt Atkins – Medina House School
Penny Codd – CE Diocese (on long term sick)
Richard Marinelli – Cowes Enterprise College
Ursula Topp – Deputy Director, Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth
Susan Walker – Interim Head

For OnTheWight it meant a 24-mile round trip, but far worse was the time and money wasted for the Hampshire council officers, who had to return to the mainland having not completed expected business.
