Thanks to Nat for this latest news from Ryde Academy. Ed
Ryde Academy have just finished a run of their school show which this year was Annie. Students from across all the year groups performed over three nights.
The High Sheriff, Ron Holland, and his wife and the Chairman of the Council, Councillor Charles Chapman, attended the opening night on Thursday 11 February.
A real credit to the Academy
Cllr Chapman said,
“The Annie production was a real credit to the Academy. The actors performed brilliantly and as a member of the audience you really felt the emotions they were conveying. The whole thing was very professional and I thoroughly enjoyed it.”
The High Sheriff said,
“We thoroughly enjoyed the performance and thought that the cast and everyone else involved did a marvellous job, a lot of promising talent!”
Incredible and inspiring
Students worked incredibly hard in the run up to opening night rehearsing after school and learning their lines in spare moments.
Thom Goodey, who led the production, said;
“It was incredible and inspiring to see how all students gained a newfound confidence to perform to such a high standard in a short amount of time.
“The students and I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of this fantastic show and once again Ryde Academy students have shown how talented they are in all areas of the Performing Arts.”
There was also a guest appearance by Elfie, Mr Goodey’s dog, who behaved impeccably!
