Aircraft preservation expert, Ken Ellis, praises Wight Aviation Museum’s achievements

Last Sunday the Wight Aviation Museum Team had the great pleasure to welcome a well known and highly respected “Aircraft Preservation Guru”, avid Historian, renowned author and magazine editor, Ken Ellis.

Former editor for many years of the well known “Flypast” magazine, he is author of the bi-annual “Wrecks and Relics” first published in 1961, now in its 28th edition and is regarded by aviation enthusiasts and the aircraft preservation community as its “bible.”

His visit was arranged so that he could up date his entry in the forth coming edition of Wrecks and Relics.

Ken was shown around the museum by members of the WAM Team and was very impressed with what the WAM Team have achieved in just a few years.

Ken said,

“I am very pleased to see the Wight Aviation Museum is developing so well, not only preserving and displaying artefacts and exhibits from the very rich Isle of Wight aviation heritage but also its focus on the stories of the people from the island involved in that history!”

Helen Blake, chair person of WAM enthused,

“It’s really encouraging for the WAM Team to get visitors like Ken and from that much wider appreciation of what we have achieved.”

As usual the museum will be open to all visitors on Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays from 10am to 3pm each day.
