Today sees The Big Lunch take place across the UK.
Tim Smith from The Eden Project and Paul Twivy are the brains behind the project, aimed at bringing communities closer together.
The idea is for neighbours to get together and hold street parties encouraging community spirit and celebrating the talents of those who grow their own food, cook, talk, create music, whatever!
Watching some of the videos on The Big Lunch Website took me back to the Silver Jubilee in 1977. Mum came up trumps again with the home made fancy dress outfits.
I was adorned in huge pieces of cardboard shaped like a souvenir mug and my younger brother took on the role of a souvenir coin. We might have even won some prizes (a souvenir mug and coin perhaps?)
Anyway, we’re off for lunch at a friends house today, but wonder if anyone has organised a Big Lunch in the Island. The subject was raised on the discussion forum about a month ago, but didn’t seem to gather much interest.
If you are involved with a ‘Big Lunch’ today, drop us a line and let us know, take photos or write a review of the day.
