Long Bridge :

BBC ponder the likelihood of a ‘Bridge to the Isle of Wight’

The BBC published an article by Tom de Castella yesterday titled, “Could these five projects improve life in the UK?”

Following the news that the Government are going ahead with the HS2 project, Tom asks what the benefits a number of other equally ‘blue sky thinking’ projects might have.

The contenders
As well as highlighting the much-debated argument for a fixed link to the Isle of Wight, the article also looks at the Welwyn North tunnel, a motorway for the east, a new Channel tunnel and trams for Liverpool and Leeds.

After looking at the arguments and evidence, Tom suggests a bridge being built between the Island and mainland is not on the immediate horizon (boom boom).

Many thanks to OnTheWight reader HappyDaze for the headsup of this article.
