OnTheWight reader Brendon Cassford has been in touch with a warning for Islanders.
He says he was contacted on Friday by someone calling from the number 0074953800239 (yes, double 0)
The caller claimed to be from the Google Maps business.
Brendon says
“They were most certainly not from Google Maps and after realising they were talking to a Private investigator quickly hung up.”
He adds,
“It’s a scam to try to access your computer by getting you to log on to a spoof site and download malware.”
