Carisbrooke Brownies at Nature Zones

Brownies plant 20 new trees at Naturezones Wildlife Education Trust

Carisbrooke Brownies were welcomed to Naturezones Wildlife Education Trust at Blackwater during National Tree Week.

They planted 20 trees to make an avenue of Rowan, Buddleia and Birch. All trees favoured by wildlife. Providing autumn berries for birds, nectar and homes for the butterflies, bees and many, many more insects.

After the Tree planting it was hot chocolate all round.

Project Manage, Angela Hewitt said,

“It reminded me of our very first project 15 years ago when during National Tree week with the help of children from Arreton Primary School and a grant from the Tree Council we planted our beautiful silver birch copse.”

Since its inception Naturezones has worked with over 6,000 children from 20 primary schools on outdoor nature themes.

Angela adds,

“In the current climate we tick all the boxes. Outdoors, plenty of safe space,  and really good for a child’s mental health and well being. When the children leave it is smiling faces and exuberant chatter all round”.
