What’s the best thing to do when you’ve proposed £11.6m worth of cuts, causing gales of protest, particularly from those responsible for looking after the most vulnerable members of society?
Make sure you’re not spending extra money? Drop your expenditure where you can?
Isle of Wight council have taken a different approach. They’ve advertised an up-to-£125,982 a year salary – plus attractive relocation package (up to £15,000) – for a Strategic Director in the community services area. Just the area where the deepest cuts are going to be.
Hurry now, you’ve got to get your application in before the 8 March, in advance of the preliminary interviews in London on 15/16 March.
