Campaign to ‘Help Jonathan Smile’ gets off to a great start

Yesterday (Sunday), Mark Langford ran 27 miles across the Isle of Wight as part of a fundraising campaign to put a large smile on the face of ten year old, Jonathan Randall.

Jonathan lives in Freshwater and is totally dependent on his wheelchair – even to move around indoors.

Mark’s sponsored run is just part of a larger campaign to help raise £3,000 to buy Jonathan a new bike that has been specially adapted to help him move independently. The bike is his chance to get outside and get some exercise to help with his growth and development – and make him smile.

A source of inspiration for so many
Mark ran along the dragon ley line which runs from Culver to Freshwater.

Kim Brown from Nature Therapy CIC set up the GoFundMe appeal after learning about Jonathan’s position. She told us that Mark is a major part of Nature Therapy CIC and source of inspiration for so many.

She continued,

“When Jonathan’s mum came on our Sports Leaders course and mentioned her son could only get outside and move freely around on a specialised bike, Mark didn’t hesitate to volunteer to do some fund raising towards the £3,000 needed for a very specialised bike that supports all of Jonathan’s needs.”

A big thank you
Jonathan and his family met Mark at the end of his 27 mile run yesterday to thank him personally.

He’d also drawn this picture and written a letter to Mark to show his appreciation.
