Cash4Clubs programme: Boosting sport in under-represented communities

Unrestricted grants are now available to community and voluntary sports groups across the UK and Ireland.

These grants aim to support activities with a social cause targeted at under-represented communities.

About Cash4Clubs
Established in 2008, the Cash4Clubs grant programme is funded by Flutter UK & Ireland. This company is a segment of Flutter Entertainment, a leading name in the global arena of sports betting, gaming, and entertainment. To be eligible for this funding, groups must have adult members aged 18 and above.

Partnering with Sported, a UK network of community sports groups, Cash4Clubs ensures the aid reaches those clubs which require it the most.

Who can apply?
A diverse array of not-for-profit organisations stand to benefit from this initiative. This includes charities, community groups, and traditional sports clubs spread across the UK and Ireland. These entities can apply for grants up to £2,000, which they are expected to utilise within a six-month timeframe.

The emphasis this year is distinctly on community sports clubs and organisations. Many of these have felt the financial pinch due to the dual challenges of the pandemic and the escalating cost of living crisis, with some facing the bleak prospect of shutting down.

Key criteria for selection
Preference will be accorded to applications that lucidly highlight:

  • Access to sport for one or more underrepresented groups, including women and girls, people with disabilities, from racially diverse communities, from the LGBTQ+ community or from lower socio-economic groups.
  • Sustainability of activities to keep people playing.
  • An increase in reach to engage with even more people.
  • Expansion of activities to engage with new audiences that groups have not worked with before.
  • Broader social impact on the local community, e.g. tackling crime and anti-social behaviour, reducing loneliness, supporting mental health and well being.

Crucially, the funding is unrestricted. It grants organisations the flexibility to channel the funds towards any cause that propels their community activity forward.

Potential utilisation of funds
Organisations can potentially channel these funds towards:

  • Renting venues and associated amenities like floodlights or heating.
  • Coaching expenses.
  • Reimbursing volunteers.
  • Purchasing equipment or sports kits.
  • Efforts in marketing and communication.
  • Training sessions and acquiring relevant certifications.
  • Covering insurance premiums and affiliations.

Interested parties should be prompt, as the cut-off for applications is the end of this year, 31st December 2023.
