Ryde Harriers Culver Run

Choice of club runs with Ryde Harriers

Thanks to Tom for this latest report from the Ryde Harriers. Ed

During their summer series Ryde Harriers offers two different weekly club runs with track races, road runs and multi-terrain courses all in the calendar. The latest events saw multi-terrain runs from Ryde Rowing Club and Sandown Fairway Centre.

Ryde’s Seaview Saunter
In Ryde, eighteen runners took on the Seaview Saunter, 5.7 miles of undulations that required a nominated time before starting. Winning the nomination points was John Randles who was 47 seconds inside his stated time.

Sam Cleare came second in both the overall run and nomination in a time of 40:04 with Simon Joy third in the nomination competition. Fastest on the night was Rob D’Arcy in 38:52 with Elaine Parry fastest woman in 44:14.

Culver loop course
Over in Sandown it was the classic Culver loop course that runs along the seafront to the furthest point of Culver Down, then back down one of the steep sides. In perfect running weather ten runners took on the challenge and enjoyed the views from the top.

The nomination competition saw the unusual result of the fastest three runners taking the top three nomination places, but in a different order. Fastest in the night was Simon Newman in 54:49 whilst he was second with his nomination.

Tom Blackwell took the nomination top points whilst finishing second in 54:41 whilst Les Cupis was third on both counts in 55:20.
