Cllrs Chris Jarman and Karl Love with more shoeboxes for the Christmas Shoeboxes Appeal for Ukrainian Soldiers.
The goal of the appeal, supported on the Isle of Wight by MAD-Aid in East Cowes, is to share the love and joy of Christmas with the soldiers fighting on the front lines in Ukraine.
Heading to Ukraine
This delivery of boxes pictured were packed and donated by the residents of Totland and Freshwater and will soon be on their way with the many others to reach Ukraine by Christmas.
Each contains a range of prescribed thermal clothing, personal healthcare products and a bounty of typical Christmas treats, to which each donator adds a Christmas card and a personal message of seasonal cheer, support and good will.
Bitter Ukraine winters
The bitter Ukraine winters are renowned for their long periods below freezing and biting winds, so the contents should help alleviate some of the worst deprivations which the Ukraine soldiers must, of necessity, endure in order to secure their country.
The final Christmas Shoeboxes are being prepared over the next few days with collection points around the Island delivering them to the new MAD-aid facility at 10 York Avenue, East Cowes for immediate loading onto the frequent shipments to Ukraine.
