Very impressed with the picture and sound quality of the internet live coverage of this Select Ctte and with a bb download speed of around 3Mhz.

Yes, it’s very good Stephen, we were hooked during the Leveson Inquiry. Many Select Committees can be seen again on BBC iPlayer too http://wig.ht/29lC

“..because it would prevent all iphone/ipad/ithingy users from accessing the site…?”

You’re probably right, although that sounds like the tail wagging the dog.

I thought HTML5 was supposed to be the answer…

Interesting fact just given that children that do not have access to libraries tend to be low achievers. Perhaps the IWC should consider this bearing in mind the low grades being obtained on the Island in education.

Ive got it…… it’s as though the lights has just been switched on! Localism……. lauded by the LGA, supported by the three members on the panel, referred to by Pugh……it’s not about Local Decision making (localism?) …..it’s all about getting people to do things for nothing (volunteers) to replace Local Authority funding….!! What we need is true Localism……. Island policies for Islanders, supporting the need of Islanders… Read more »

pugh still insists that equality impact assesments were done before decisions were made to close the libraries, there was only one done that was generalised for the island at that time, the ones done afterwards for the 5 libraries under threat of closure was only done in july,,, still waiting for those findings, he has not answered fully to the questions , as for being a volunteer,… Read more »

Just watched David Pugh get anililated by the review committee! It was brilliant. Well done to those people who wrote in with their comments. Many were read out.

Isn’t it funny that Pugh couldn’t bring himself to say the words Ventnorblog whilst being questioned :-) we all know what site he was talking about.

Perhaps tweeted or emailed thanks to the MPs who were very thorough at this hearing.

IWCP’s coverage will be interesting for their ‘take’ on this Pugh performance.

I really like that guy who asked all those awkward questions about Shanklin Library. Worrying that some of these volunteer run libraries will be moved to other buildings and amalgamated with other services. Sounds like more asset stripping and sale of buildings? If you missed this it’s all recorded on there you only need to click on link: http://www.parliamentlive.tv/Main/Player.aspx?meetingId=10299

via a friend with contacts, I have already passed on our appreciation to Paul Farrelly- he did a great job on behalf of Island library campaigners!
