Police are carrying out an extensive search for a patient from Tatchbury Mount Hospital, Totton, who has been missing since around 2.30pm yesterday (August 10).
Daniel Rosenthal, who is 58-years-old, is diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and is a convicted murderer.
He was last seen at about 2.30pm, when he went for a routine, unsupervised walk around the gardens of the hospital.
Police have carried out initial searches in the hospital, its grounds and the surrounding areas. Other enquiries are progressing.
He is described as:
- 58-years-old
- Five feet Two inches tall
- Local accent
- Short grey / brown hair, with a ‘basin style’ fringe
- He wears glasses with a metal rim
- Walks with a hunch and a ‘scuffle’
- He was last seen wearing ‘closed in’ sandals; light brown, baggy, cord trousers and a long-sleeved cream-coloured shirt with buttons down the front
Daniel has been known to visit various areas of the New Forest and Southampton.
Police are urging members of the public to report any sightings of him by calling 999 and should not approach him, as he is potentially dangerous.

Missing man from Tatchbury Mount Hospital has been found
Police can confirm Daniel Rosenthal, who had been missing from Tatchbury Mount Hospital, Totton, since 2.30pm yesterday (August 10) has been found.
Daniel Rosenthal (58) was located in Southampton at around 11am this morning (August 11) and has returned to Tatchbury Mount Hospital.
Police would like to thank members of the public and the media for their assistance with enquiries into his whereabouts.
